ASUS v6800 Geforce256 DDR Deluxe Review - Page VI
By Michael "Hughesey" Hughes

QUAKE III ARENA - TIMEDEMO RESULTS

Fastest

Resolution -Frames Per Second (higher is better)
640x480

94.9

800x600 93.9
1024x768 90.5
1280x1024

78.5

With this graphics setting it is easily noticed that all resolutions are playable. This is due to the fact that it doen not really tax the video card at all.

Fast

Resolution -Frames Per Second (higher is better)
640x480

86.3

800x600 86.0
1024x768 77.6
1280x1024

53.1

Once again, the use of this graphics setting allows all the above resolutions to be extremely playable.

Normal

Resolution -Frames Per Second (higher is better)
640x480

87.1

800x600 85.4
1024x768 77.2
1280x1024

52.9

With this graphics setting, the image quality was very good, and speed was not an issue thanks to the V6800's super fast memory.

High Quality

Resolution -Frames Per Second (higher is better)
640x480

86.5

800x600 81.5
1024x768 63.0
1280x1024

36.0

It is here where we see the true power of the V6800. Being capable of 60+ fps in 1024x768 with high quality graphics settings is a truly remarkable feat. The image quality in this setting was excellent as was the speed in all resolutions. The only exception was at 1280x1024 where the fps dropped below the beloved 50 mark, however it was still playable.

Maxed Out Graphics

Resolution 16bit Colour 32bit Colour
640x480 83.1 83.0
800x600 82.8 78.5
1024x768 74.8 59.8
1280x1024 51.5 34.5

This is my custom setting. All texture details and geometric details were maxed out. It shows us that in 16bit, this card is capable of producing an extremely playable game in 1280x1024, and in 32 bit is capable of producing a visually enchanting and speed rich game at the all popular resolution of 1024x768.
