Unlocking an AMD Thunderbird Core Athlon/Duron
Review Date:4th March 2002
Author(s): Leigh "Grim Reaper" Gardiner, Clinton "SileNceR" Warburton
Our Rating: 10/10, invaluable for older AMD Cpu's.

Now boot up and go into the BIOS and experiment changing the multiplier and FSB. Find the most highest "stable" settings for your Hardware. This will take a fair few attempts as it may seem stable yet crash after 30 minutes in windows, or even blue screen on boot.

Over time the lead will degrade away and you'll need to re-do this process. I've had mine unlocked for quite some time so it's not like it'll happen in a month or two but it does vary on system to system.

If you do not want to have to replace the lead or if you want a more permanant finish, you can use a car rear window demister repair kit as pictured below... should be available for about $16 for 1.4ml from any decent car repair shop.

And the finish it gives, for those interested:

Just worthy of a note - if you use the window demister kit, be warned that it is a lot harder to remove any mistakes you make - if you use a pencil you can use an eraser... with this it is not so simple :)

Well that's the end of my first guide! =D. Thanks to SileNceR for assisting in the writing of this guide and sKuLLsHoT for the images. Any e-mails about this or anything else are welcome.
