The Satellites

Upon removing the sattelites from the box, I was suprised how heavy they were. For satellites, they’re fairly big and heavy which made me happy as in most cases high quality speakers/amplifiers were heavy. (OK, OK, its not a technical fact, but it made me happy =P)

Each satellite contains one 3” mid-range driver with high quality rubber surrounds (compared to other speakers which use cheap foam surrounds) and the phase plug is nice and solid.

The speaker grills can be removed, and in my opinion, doing so gave the speakers a slightly crisper sound, not to mention how cool they look with it removed.

The stands on the satellites are held by a single thumbscrew and when the screw is removed, the stand can be adjusted for wall mounting or whatever you like. The stands are solid, unlike some speaker stands when the sound is blearing they topple over. (Yes, yet another problem with my old el'cheapo speakers)

Going around to the back of the speaker we discover that post-type connectors are used to connect the wire, which allows you to purchase your own wire for the speakers, allowing for extensions/higher quality wire if need be. That’s one up to this system; you can change the wire to different/better quality as you wish. The wire that is shipped with the speakers is fine for everyday use, unless of course you’re an audiophile =).

Logitech obviously want people to know these are their speakers and that they’re THX Certified. For more info on what THX is, go to the official site.

Now onto the beasty looking subwoofer…
