BTC 5110S Wireless Keyboard
Usage
Testing was carried out in front of a DivX PC, with a distance of roughly 3.3m between the keyboard and the receiver. I tested the keyboard in word processing, Internet surfing, and game playing.
For word processing, this unit was surprisingly accurate. I was able to re-type an entire page from a Uni textbook with only a few errors, all of which were the fault of my bad typing skills. During the typing, I tilted the keyboard in all directions, and to my surprise, it took a rather large angle for it to cease to receive the IR signal.
For Internet surfing, the unit was acceptable, although the mouse pointer will take a fair bit of getting used to. On the topic of the mouse pointer, rather large force was needed in order to press the mouse button and have the receiver pick up the button click. This could just be something that I’m not used to or a genuine problem with the product, however it was annoying none-the-less.
In games, the good performance levels dropped. Due to the fact that 2 hands are required to operate the mouse alone, it is virtually impossible to play any sort of game which requires simultaneous mouse and keyboard movements, such as Counter Strike, Quake 3 Arena, or similar titles. If the intended use is gaming, I strongly suggest that you purchase either a separate cordless mouse, or invest in a cordless keyboard/mouse combo.
