The mods

Throughout the review I have hinted at or discussed possible modifications to the case. In this section of the review I will expand on my ideas and possibilities for modification of this case. By no means is this a definitive list and I am sure you are all creative enough to create your own individual mods.

Ok first off, Paint.

If we look at this photo from earlier in the review one can see that the case would look quite good if painted, you choose the color. Personally, I like the idea of red because a) my AT server is blue, and b) I have seen Rex's red painted Aopen HQ08 (from the OCAU forums and PCDB), which looks quite good.

Also worth noting is that you may need to sand the swirl on the right hand bottom of the case back as it is a rough texture which may not paint well. Vinyl Die, however, should work fine on this surface.

As I said, a lot of the stock fan grilles could be cut out and replaced with proper chrome grilles to maximise airflow - the PSU and two 60mm fan mounts on the back are three of these. Also, as I said earlier, it would be an idea to tape over the two grilles at the back of the case that aren't being used as this prevents the possibility of dust getting in via them if the case has negative air-flow (meaning more air being taken out of the case than being drawn in).
